Air Quality in Your Home

In order to ensure the health and safety of the residents of a home, it is important to check the air quality and fix the quality if necessary.

Air quality problems due to gas (such as carbon monoxide and radon) or mold can be very harmful if it's not taken care of properly. The first step is to check the air quality to make sure that gas is not affecting the indoor air.  This can be done with a carbon monoxide detector or a radon detection kit for gases, whereas mold can usually be detected through visual inspection and odor detection. There are also simple steps you can take in home maintenance to help ensure a high indoor air quality. Vacuuming often, and using a vacuum with a HEPA filter, can get rid toxins and dust that negatively affect air quality. Mopping is also a great way to reduce indoor air pollution, as it picks up the dust and toxins that the vacuum may have missed. Finally, maintaining a healthy level of humidity in the home can reduce mold and dust mites, which survive in moisture.
