Challenge
These home owner in Gill, MA called us to their home to see what we could do about the cold floors in the kitchen. When we got to the home our building science expert found that there was a massive crawlspace under the kitchen! This is the reason why the floors were so cold.
Solution
To fix this issue we have to encapsulate and insulate the crawlspace. By doing this the crawl space will now be part of the conditioned space. The reason why this floor was getting so cold is because before we did the work at this home, in the winter this area was the same temperature as outside. When its 20 degrees outside, the crawlspace is the same temperature. This was acting like a giant freezer right under their feet! After we finished the work this home owner will never have to worry about cold floors again!
