This homeowner in Simsbury, CT had called us out because he had ice dams on his home in the winter. AS we know, Ice dams can damage your home pretty severely. So to stop this we took a look around the house and saw a knee wall with only fiberglass insulation in it. This insulation is clearly not doing its job because if it was, there would be no ice damming. To stop this from happening again, we start by removing all the old fiberglass insulation. Then we use our SilverGlo foam board insulation to block the floor bays. This stops cold air from getting into the floors and making that part of the house have inconsistent temperatures. When that is done, WE start to put up the runs of SilverGlo insulation. Its very important to air seal between everything to make an air tight seal so the heat you pay for in the winter does not head up the roof deck and cause ice damming. After that we dense pack down the slopes from the attic to insulate behind the SilverGlo we just put up. Now that we have properly insulated this knee wall space, this home owner will not have to get out the roof rakes to break up the ice damns ever again!
This home owner in Pittsfield, MA called us out to his home to see what we could do to help save him money on his heating and cooling bills. When we got to the home our building science expert was on his inspection he noticed that the attic had barely any insulation! No wonder why he was spending so much on his bills!
To fix this we have to insulate the attic to stop the air that we pay for, from leaving the home. In this case it was a walk up attic so instead of insulating the attic floor we moved the thermal barrier to the attic ceiling. To do this we installed our Super Attic treatment. This treatment uses EPS foam board on the rafters making sure to air seal in between each piece of Silverglo EPS foam board. once we do this we go around the attic making sure every crack is air sealed to make sure this attic is air tight.
Now that Dr Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions has come out and took care of this problem, this home owner will save a ton of money on heating and cooling his home!
This home owner in Pittsfield, MA called us out to his home because he had clod floor and wanted tot see if we could solve his problem. When our building science specialist was on his inspection of the basement he noticed that there was no insulation at the rim joist. This is where a lot of air come into the home from the outside. It was this cold air that was making his floors cold.
To fix this problem we simply spray foamed the rim joist with our 2-part spray foam. We covered the entire rim joist and sill plate making sure we stop both convective air and stop conduction.
Now that Dr Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions came and took care of his problems, he will not have to worry about cold floors every again!
This home owner in Suffield, CT called us at Dr Energy Saver because she could not keep her home at a consistent and comfortable temperature. There where a couple of things going on in this home but one of the has to do with a vertical wall upstairs. The wall has a conditioned space on one side and an un-conditioned space one the other. This is a problem that we can easily fix. What we have to do is separate the conditioned from the unconditioned so we start by blocking the floor with our SilverGlo foam insulation. This stop the air from under the attic floor from seeping into the wall. Then we have to insulate that wall. To do that we take our 4 " SilverGlo and start to cover the wall with it. In between every piece we have to remember to air seal so no air can get through. Now that the blocking is in, the SilverGlo is up, and it is air sealed, this home owner can live more comfortable in her home!
This homeowner called us out to their home in Enfield, CT looking into getting new insulation in their home due to cold, drafty rooms and a damp basement. We noticed that their basement door was old, not air sealed, or pressure treated. This can cause issues such as cold/hot homes in the summer and winter. This can also lead to damp basements due to condensation from warm, humid air in the summer. We knew what we needed to do to help these homeowners become more comfortable in their home.
First, we know that we need to remove the old, drafty door. We take out the old door and framing. Then we install proper framing for the new door. Next, we install our pressure treated, insulated door that has weather stripping around itself. Now, the outside air and conditions will not be able to enter this home. The outside air stays outside, and the inside air stays inside. Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, these homeowners can now live comfortable, and happy in their home.
This homeowner in West Springfield, MA called us out to their home to see what could be done for the prevention of their ice damming issues they had been experiencing. We conducted our Full Home Energy Evaluation and noticed that their attic had old, nasty fiberglass insulation. Since fiberglass insulation is light and fluffy it allows air to travel through it, not making as the best insulator. We knew that we needed to remove and replace this insulation with more efficient material.
For this specific attic, we needed to create an insulation catwalk so that the HVAC system was still reachable. We install our expanded polystyrene SilverGlo foam board insulation across the ceiling joists. SilverGlo insulation boards are infused with graphite, increasing the insulation value by 24%. WE secure the SillverGlo with 5” screws and 3” washers. Dams made of Oriented Strand board are installed to keep insulation off catwalk. These Oriented Strand boards are two times stronger than plywood! After this, TruSoft cellulose insulation is blown into attic, also covering any sace beneath the catwalk is filled. Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, the ice dams in this home will be drastically reduced due to new insulation and air sealage of the attic!
These homeowners in Tolland, CT, asked us out to their home to see if we could help them with a problem they were having . The problem was that they were having severe ice dams and the temperature in the rooms on the upper level were inconsistent all year round. We got to the home and sat down with the customer to go over their concerns once more before conducting out Full Home Energy Evaluation. After a long search, we found out that their attic was full of old, nasty fiberglass insulation. Since fiberglass is so fluffy, it easily allows air to travel through it and is not a proper thermal barrier. Now we know what we need to do.
We conduct the unpleasant task of removing the damaged, soiled insulation from the attic. We use a long fat vacuum hose and such all of that insulation out of the attic. We also remove all of the left over particles and dust. Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solution, this attic is ready for some new, fresh insulation!
This homeowner in Springfield, MA called us out to their home for a Full Home Energy Evaluation after watching Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions commercials on television. They were interested in a Energy Evaluation for their home because they wanted to see what they could do to make their home more comfortable. These homeowners added an addition to their home some years back, and under the floor of this addition there was fiberglass insulation. This insulation was held in place by a plastic vapor barrier. When we cut the vapor barrier down water started to pour out of it, which is a huge problem. In the before photo, you can see what this insulation looked like once we took that plastic off. Even though there is fiberglass insulation in the floor, because it sags down away from the sub floor, the same outside air gets over it rendering it useless. We know what we needed to do to help these homeowners become more comfortable in their home.
The first thing we need to do is remove all of that old, nasty insulation from the floors of this home. We remove and properly dispose of the material, vacuuming up anything that fell. Then we can move on to our next step. We install SilverGlo foam insulation board across the floor joists and hold them in place with with 3” washers and 5” screws to ensure stability. We seal all of the SilverGlo seams with one- part foam. Now that Dr. Energy saver by Eco Energy Solutions has increased efficiency and stopped air flow from leaking in and out of the home, these homeowners can live more comfortable in their home all year round!!!
This homeowner in Chicopee, Ma called us out to their home to help them make their home more comfortable all year round. We went to the house and performed our Full Home Energy Evaluation to see that they had a great deal of old, nasty fiberglass insulation in their attic. Because fiberglass is so fluffy it allows air to easily travel through it, which is not primal for insulation. Fiberglass is also high in allergens and harmful materials that can affect you, your children, family, and pets. We know that to begin the process of making this home more comfortable we need to dispose of that old insulation.
First, we make sure we have the proper materials to dispose of the old, nasty insulation. We have contractor trash bags close by and our high powered vacuum to help. Our production workers perform the unruly task of taking the insulation down and properly disposing it into the trash bags. Then, once all of the big pieces are removed, we use our vacuum clean the whole area. We want to make sure we are completely removing all pieces of that old insulation that didn’t make it into the bags. Now this area is clean, and ready for new, proper air sealing and insulation. Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this home is now one step closer to become as energy efficient, and comfortable as possible!!
This customer in Holyoke, MA called us out because of a concern they were having in their home. Their concern was that they could not keep their home or family room warm in the winter. This was caused by a lack of proper insulation in the attic of the home. Without proper insulation air can leak into your attic and out of your home, making it difficult and costly to keep a home warm.
To fix this, we use our SuperPlatform treatment. First we need to remove the existing insulation. Our installers remove all of the old insulation, bag it up, and properly dispose of the materials. Since this home contains an HVAC system in their attic we have make sure there is a proper walkway, or catwalk in the attic. This makes it so that service can be done correctly and safely in a space where there are mechanics. Next, we lay our 4" SilverGlo foam board across the wooded walkway. This will increase the insulation value by 24%. We want to make sure that none of the blown in insulation we are installing will get on to our new walkway. Next, we have to install plywood over the foam board and held in place by long screws and washers. Following this step, we dense pack TruSoft cellulose insulation into any space beneath the catwalk that is not filled. Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this customer is warmer and ecstatic with the temperature in their home!
This homeowner in Adams, MA called us out to their home for an estimate on spray foam insulation in their basement because they were getting a lot of cold air in the area. We conducted our full home energy evaluation and noticed an old, open sump pump hole in the basement floor! This was for one, dangerous, and two was letting tons of air leak out from their home! This will create humid basements in the summer, and possible floods.
Now we know what we need to do to fix this problem. Dr Energy Saver SuperSump system is well engineered. We dig a hole in the floor to make sure the pump will fit. Then we drill the pipe to the rim joist. The water that would be in the basement then goes into the ground and discharges through an outlet. The water then is pumped outside away from the house where it is properly drained. Now this home no longer has an open hole allowing air, and water into the basement thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions!
This homeowner in Stafford Springs, CT called us out to their home to see what we could do to make their home more energy efficient. We noticed during out Home Energy Evaluation that they had inefficient fiberglass insulation and an un-airsealed can light. Stopping air leakage at the top of the house is a priority when it comes to making a home more comfortable. Can lights are holes in the ceiling which allow air to leak into the attic between the fixture and the drywall. Air leaks through the fixture itself due to the many holes and seams in it. Most can lights are not rated to have insulation against them because of the fire hazard when the fixture gets hot. We installed our Dr. Energy Saver TiteShell can light covers. We used our expanding foam to make these lights air tight. These covers are safe from the fire hazards of hot bulbs and fixtures allowing cellulose insulation to be blown into the attic.
This homeowner called us out to their home in Egremont, MA to access a problem that have been experiencing in their homes. They originally called us to do a Home Energy Evaluation in regards to adding some new insulation in their homes. When we got to the home and spoke with the homeowner during our inspection they voiced to us that they have very cold floors on the first floor during colder seasons. They also had trouble keeping the first floor cool in the summer and hot seasons. While evaluating their basement we saw that they did not have a sealed rim joist. The joints and gaps between the framing all of the framing members allow for a lot of air leakage into the home. This also was a reason for the first floor not staying as cool as it should be in hotter seasons. Air was able to leak through the rim joists and gaps, resulting in uncomfortable temperatures in their home no matter the season.
To fix this issue, we need to spray foam this homeowners rim joist and insulate. This process is done by spraying out two-part expanding spray foam on the rim joist and over the sill plate to seal all air leaks from the outside. This finally creates some well needed insulation in the home. Dr. Energy Savers spray foam has a high insulation value of R7. Since this is expanding foam, it seals all of the cracks, gaps, and joints where air from the outside enters the home. Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, these homeowners can now live comfortable, and more energy efficient in their homes all rear round!
This homeowner in Glastonbury, CT called us out to their home to take a look at some concerns they were having. They knew that they had improper insulation in their attic, and that there was mold in the hallway of their first floor. We went to conduct our Full Home Energy Evaluation to see that this was accurate, but that there was also mold up in the attic. This home had a radiant barrier in the attic, with no air sealing, only fiberglass insulation in the radiant barrier sheets. Because of the improper air sealing and insulation, condensation and heat loss from the home was making its way past the radiant barrier and creating condensation, and eventually mold. Mold is very harmful to have in your home. At this point, we knew what we needed to do to help these homeowners be more comfortable and healthy in their home.
To begin, we need to remove the radiant barrier and all of the old fiberglass insulation in the attic. We bag up, and properly dispose of all the materials. Now that all of the insulation is removed, we can move on to our next step, mold remediation. We spray our Mold-X on to the effected areas to actively kill all of the mold. Next, we lay our 4" SilverGlo foam board across the wooded walkway. We want to make sure that none of the blown in insulation we are installing will get on to our new walkway. Next, we have to install plywood over the foam board and held in place by long screws and washers. Following this step, we dense pack TruSoft cellulose insulation into any space beneath the catwalk that is not filled. Then we build a deck in the attic so this homeowner is able to use the area in this attic for some storage. Now we are at our last step, blowing our Cellulose insulation on the sides of the catwalk. Thanks to Dr Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this home is now more comfortable, healthy, and energy efficient!
This homeowner in Amston, CT came to us with issues with circulation in the attic which they were using for storage.
We installed proper ventilation to keep moisture out. However, vented attics have extreme temperatures so we also installed our Super Attic treatment to create a conditioned space to keep belongings safe. First thing to do is remove any of the old insulation that was up there. Then we have to move the thermal barrier from the floor of the attic to the roof deck of the attic. We attach our 4 inch SilverGlo EPS foam board to the roof rafters and make sure that we air seal in between each piece of foam board to make it air tight.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this homeowner can rest easy knowing their belongings will not get damaged and their attic will remain dry.
