We met this homeowner in Lenox, MA at the Lenox Apple Squeeze where they told us about the musty smell in their basement. One of the culprits was this old door at the bottom of the hatch steps letting in moisture.
We removed the old door and installed proper framing. We then hung the new energy efficient door with weather stripping and sealed any spots where air could leak in.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, the inside of the home is properly sealed off from the outside, keeping out moisture and harsh winter and summer temperatures.
This homeowner in Windsor Locks, CT had just purchased their home and knew there was work to be done with the insulation. Cape Cod style homes often have poorly insulated kneewall spaces, and we can help.
The old insulation was dirty, ineffective, and falling apart so we started by removing it. Once the space was clean, we installed our SilverGlo graphite infused EPS foam with radiant barrier to keep the heat from the roof out and the heat from the home in. Lastly, we sealed the spaces between the boards.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this home is far more energy efficient and comfortable.
These homeowners in Southwick, MA were looking to insulate a three season porch.
We removed the ineffective foam board that was previously in between the joists and installed our SilverGlo graphite infused EPS foam and seal in between each board. The radiant barrier on the SilverGlo will keep heat out in the summer and in during the winter.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, these homeowners can enjoy this porch all year round.
This homeowner had issues with high energy bills and felt drafts coming from the attic through the scuttle hole. A scuttle hole is necessary for access up into the attic, especially in homes like this one with ducts in the attic, but they allow a significant amount of air to leak through them.
The ceiling around the scuttle hole was cracked so we first repaired that and added a frame around the hole. We added our SilverGlo insulation foam board around the hole on the side of the attic. SilverGlo is infused with graphite and has a radiant barrier face to stop heat from passing up from the home in the winter, and down from the attic in the summer. The scuttle cover was then weather-stripped to stop air leakage and a piece of SilverGlo is added to it to fit in snugly with the boards place around it up in the attic.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by ECO Energy Solutions, this homeowner is no longer experiencing high energy costs or drafts.
These homeowners in Enfield, CT had issues keeping their home, primarily the den, warm in the winter. There were old batts of fiberglass insulation that at one point were installed into the ceiling of the crawlspace, but were now falling off, letting cold air up into the home.
We started off by clearing out this old insulation. With the space cleared, we sealed off the rim joist, otherwise know as the perimeter of the floor framing of the house, to stop cold air from creeping in. We installed our SilverGlo graphite infused foam board onto the walls to insulate the crawlspace to keep heat in during the winter. We then got to work on the dirt floor of the crawlspace. We laid down our dimpled drainage to create an airspace and thermal break. Then we put down our TerraBlock floor insulation, and finalize our sealing off the crawlspace with our vapor barrier liner to keep moisture from getting into the crawlspace and creating any mold issues.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this home will be warmer and the den with be far more comfortable.
This homeowner in Coventry, CT called us out to their home to help them with their cold floors. We concluded they had old, inefficient fiberglass insulation on their rim joist. Fiberglass insulation is not efficient in stopping cold, harsh outside air from leaking in and making the floors cold on the first floor.
We removed the old, fiberglass insulation. Then, we install our spray foam insulation around the perimeter of the home on the rim joist. Since it expands, it fills in all gaps, cracks and joints air was able to leak into the home before. Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver, these cold floors are no more!
This customer in Ellington, CT called us out because of a concern they were having in their home. Their concern was that they had very old, ineffective fiberglass insulation in the attic. Fiberglass insulation is super fluffy, and is not able to properly insulate a home on its own. Due to this, this home was way colder than it should be this winter. This was caused by the lack of proper insulation. Without proper insulation air can leak into your attic and out of your home, making it difficult and costly to keep a home warm.
To fix this, we use our SuperPlatform treatment. First we need to remove the existing insulation. Our installers remove all of the old insulation, bag it up, and properly dispose of the materials. Since this home contains an HVAC system in their attic we have make sure there is a proper walkway, or catwalk in the attic. This makes it so that service can be done correctly and safely in a space where there are mechanics. Next, we lay our 4" SilverGlo foam board across the wooded walkway. This will increase the insulation value by 24%. We want to make sure that none of the blown in insulation we are installing will get on to our new walkway. Next, we have to install plywood over the foam board held in place by long screws and washers. Following this step, we dense pack TruSoft cellulose insulation into any space beneath the catwalk that is not filled. Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this customer is warmer and ecstatic with the temperature in their home!
This homeowner in Springfield, MA called in after seeing us on TV. He had a dirt crawlspace with such an issue with moisture that he feared the structural integrity of the floor above it.
We start by sealing air leaks to the outside air. We then insulate the walls with our graphite infused SilverGlo foam that has a radiant barrier face to double down on keeping heat out. We lay down a dimpled plastic drainage matting to create airspace followed by our TerraBlock floor insulation, and we finish off with a vapor barrier liner.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this crawlspace is now dry and no longer presenting a hazard for the homeowner.
These homeowners in East Longmeadow, MA had issues with drafts in their home. One of the sources of these drafts was a whole house fan. Before air conditioning was common in homes, whole house fans were installed in the floor of the attic to pull warm air inside the home out and allow for cooler air to come in through opened windows. With air conditioning, there is no longer a need for such a fan, which is now just another spot for the air the homeowner pays to heat and cool to leak into the attic and out through the vents to the outside.
To seal the fan off, we use our David Lewis Whole House Fan Cover. The cover is made of our SilverGlo graphite infuse insulation board and sealed with expanding foam. The homeowners let us know that they may want to use the fan in the future, so we cut a removable lid out of the top piece of foam board which can easily be taken off whenever the fan is going to be used.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this home is less drafty and the homeowners still have options available for cooling their home in the summer.
This homeowner in Chicopee, MA called us out to their home to asses a problem they were experiencing. The issue occurring was inconsistent temperatures throughout the home. In the summer some rooms were hot and some were cold. This home had old, fiberglass insulation in the attic. Fiberglass insulation is fluffy and allows air to easily seep through, and exit or enter the home. The attic is a first priority in regards to insulation. We knew that we had to help these homeowners be more comfortable in their home, no matter the season.
First we need to remove all of the old, nasty fiberglass insulation. We bag up, vacuum the remains of and properly dispose of all the old insulation. It is important to air seal before insulating. If you insulate without air sealing, you are just covering up areas where air leaks, and may be unable to fix them at a later date. We air seal all of the top plates with one-part fire retardant foam. Now we are ready to insulate. We use out TruSoft cellulose insulation. Blown insulation fills all gaps and odd shaped voice. This results in a warmer more comfortable home. Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions these homeowners will have more consistent temperatures throughout their home, all year round!
This homeowner in Chicopee, MA was having issues with drafts in their home that they were looking to fix. Old metal framed, single pane windows allow the heat from inside the home escape both through the glass and the thermally conductive metal. A lot of air is also able to leak into the home.
We removed the old windows and installed our Everlast high efficiency vinyl window inserts. The windows feature two panes of high efficiency glass that allows light in without letting heat to escape. The vinyl will not rust, rot or need paint, making it perfect for the damp environment outside of the window.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this house will no longer have drafts coming up into the home!
These homeowners in South Hadley, MA were experiencing drafts in their home. We found that one leak that was allowing cold outside air was through where the dryer vent was installed in the basement window.
The old hole where the vent was in the window is sealed and the vent was ducted over to the rim joist. A hole is bored through the siding and our Pro Hood dryer vent is installed. The window can later be replaced with one that is more energy efficient later on, but the home will still be more energy efficient until then.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this home will be less drafy.
This homeowner in Wilbraham, MA had issues with freezing pipes and keeping their home warm. They had an insulated, but not quite effective door leading from hatch steps to the outside into the basement that was letting the cold in. There was a foil facing but the door was made of wood and was starting to splinter and deteriorate.
We started by removing the old door and frame. Once we installed updated framing, we installed our insulated door with weather stripping and a locking knob. Outside air will no longer be able to get in, meaning a warmer basement in the winter, and less humidity in the summer.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, pipes will no longer freeze and the homeowner will be more comfortable.
This homeowner in Stafford Springs, CT knew he had to upgrade the insulation in his crawlspace. Even at a quick glance it is clear that the old insulation was sagging and falling off the crawlspace ceiling, which leaves space for cold air to push up into the home causing cold floors and making the home harder to heat.
We started by pulling out the old, ineffective insulation. We then installed our SilverGlo foam board with special long screws and sealed any seams. SilverGlo is not only an excellent insulator, but it's not sagging or budging any time soon.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this homeowner no longer has to worry about the cold seeping up into the home for the foreseeable future.
This homeowner in Belchertown, MA was having issues with mold and uncomfortable temperatures in their basement. We removed all of their old, ineffective fiberglass insulation. Next, we sprayed our Mold-X mold killing spray to the affected areas. Then we use our spray foam insulation along the rim joists to stop cold air from entering the home. Now we can install our Foamax insulation boards along the concrete walls. Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this home is more comfortable, and energy efficient!!!
This new homeowner in Leverett, MA wanted to make sure her home was energy efficient and ready for winter before moving in. There was a thin, brittle foam board on the underside of the home which clearly would not hold up over time or have as much insulation value as needed.
We took out the old foam boards and replaced them with our 4-inch SilverGlo foam board insulation held into place with special long screws. SilverGlo has a radiant barrier face to ensure the insulation isn't doing all the work on its own. Any seams were sealed with foam, and in this case, we also sprayed load bearing beams set below the foam boards to stop conduction to and from the home.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this homeowner will have a home that will brave the winter comfortably.
This homeowner in Auburn, MA called us out to their old home for an energy evaluation. We concluded that the old fiberglass insulation in the attic was not efficient. Their home was still freezing in the winter, and super hot in the summer.
We removed all of the old, nasty fiberglass insulation and got ready to use our SuperAttic treatment for this homeowner. We plan to install our SilverGlo foam insulation boards on the underside of the roof deck and the gable end. In this after photo, you can see the SilverGlo was installed on the gable ends! Next up, under the roof deck! Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions this home will have more consistent temperatures, and is more energy-efficient!
This office in Avon, CT contacted us about high energy costs and heat loss. There was ductwork in the attic exposed to the extreme temperatures of the attic.
We sealed and insulated the ducts with 1 inch of closed cell spray foam making it air tight. For main lines such as this one, we also place our SilverGlo graphite infused and foil faced foam to create a radiant barrier at the top of the ducts.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, these ducts will no longer be affected by the temperature of the attic.
This homeowner in Marlborough, MA called us out to their home to update their insulation and increase their energy efficiency. We noticed they had very small amount of insulation in the rim joists, and it was old, inefficient fiberglass. Along the rim joists around the perimeter of the home in the basement, a lot of air is able to escape out of and enter the home. Since the cold, concrete walls of the basement are buried in the ground they tend to be about 17° cooler than than your home should be. In the summer this allows warm, humid air into your basement, hitting the cold concrete walls. This will cause condensation, supporting mold. Since they only had a small amount of old insulation, there was barley anything stopping these concerns.
We got right to the home, prepped and protected the customers belongings and got to work. First,we install our Foamax insulation boards along the concrete walls. Now, we install our spray foam insulation around the perimeter of the home on the rim joist. Since it expands, it fills in all gaps, cracks and joints air was able to leak into the home before. Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver, these homeowners are more comfortable, happy, and more energy efficient in their homes!
